Mischa Davison, M.Ed (she/her)

Registered Psychologist QC# 14140-21 / SK# 1036

I am a masters-level registered psychologist and an Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist (Level Two). I also also have training in Internal Family Systems Theory (IFS) , Somatic Experiencing® and IFS-informed Couples Therapy (IFIO), among other modalities. For over 15 years, I have worked with clients of all ages and cultural backgrounds, providing both counselling and workshops related to issues such as stress and trauma, anxiety and mood disorders, women’s issues, couples work, sex and gender, attachment and parenting skills. Over the past two years, I have been working almost exclusively from an IFS perspective and am passionate about this model’s hope for us as individuals, partners, and citizens of the world. I am thrilled to bring this exciting and transformational model to my clients.

I have taken many paths less travelled throughout my own life, homeschooling my children, prioritizing ecological stewardship in my life choices, seeking creative expression and forging my own path as an educator and therapist. Because of this, I have a great respect for my clients’ unique narratives and how each of us seeks meaning while managing life. I am a firm advocate for diverse self-expression. I support my clients to explore and express who they are, whether that fits into society’s boxes or not. I have many years of experience working with people from around the world and my practice is LGBTQIA+ allied, sex positive and anti-oppressive.

As a therapist, I am interested in the ‘deep waters’ of the human experience—the constellations of interconnected beliefs, and thought patterns, unconscious emotional associations and body memory that each of us carries inside and that shape who we are, how we feel, and what we do. Strategies such as goal-setting and positive thinking are important, but often are not enough on their own. My training and experience have taught me that often, in order for lasting healing and change to take place, it’s necessary to inquire more deeply and connect with/attend to vulnerable or defensive parts of ourselves with compassion. As an IFS therapist, I know how to work with those parts that are trapped in past moments of trauma and stress and that are no longer helpful in the present.

Together, we can work to help you recover a sense of strength, ease, and playfulness within yourself and to create new narratives in your life and in your relationships. It’s a journey that will result in greater capacity to be, to connect, and to truly thrive.

Why “Rowan Tree”?

The Rowan Tree means different things to different people. To me, it is a tree that is at once beautiful, with its deep red berries and twisting bark, and also strong. It can grow anywhere—in lush gardens as well as on the sides of steep and rocky hills. It’s a symbol of both strength in hard times and the beauty of full thriving. The Rowan Tree also reminds me that the natural world brings meaning, depth and beauty to our lives.
